We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Firewood Splitter / Yard Worker to join the OpExcellence Tree & Stump Pros Firewood Operations. This role is essential for processing raw logs into high-quality firewood for our residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate will be a hard worker with personal initiative, comfortable with heavy manual labor, and dedicated to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating manual and powered wood splitting equipment (hydraulic splitters, chainsaws, etc.) to process logs into firewood.

• Loading, lifting, stacking, and organizing split wood and raw logs in the yard and inside the storage areas.

• Performing routine safety checks and basic maintenance on equipment and tools, reporting any issues promptly.

• Adhering strictly to all company safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective gear.

• Maintaining a clean and hazard-free work area.

• Assisting with customer service and firewood pickup orders onsite.

• Assist with firewood deliveries, including loading, unloading, and stacking the customer’s firewood order in the designated area. Will ensure clean-up of any residual debris to ensure an exceptional customer service experience. Deliveries are made within a 50-mile radius of Shreveport, LA.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Physical Stamina: Must be physically capable of performing demanding manual labor, including repeatedly lifting heavy logs and working outdoors in varying weather conditions, to include inclement weather.

• Reliability: Must have reliable transportation to get to work on time and consistently. Must have personal initiative and a passion for the work being performed as demonstrated by high-output performance without constant direct supervision.

• Safety Conscious: A strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to operational and safety protocols is mandatory.

• Experience: Previous experience operating a chainsaw and hydraulic wood splitter is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

• Mechanical Skills: Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance is a plus.

• Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license may be required for delivery duties.

• Team Player: Ability to work independently as well as a member of a small team.

• Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check, inclusive of criminal background, drug screening, and motor vehicle record (MVR).
